Chicago Outside: August 2024

I finally visited Chicago, spending a full week there; more time than I've ever dedicated to a major city. Perhaps it was inspired by the TV Series, The Bear, Djo's "End of Beginning," and/or too much TikTok that pushed me to go, but I couldn't help but compare it to my beloved city of Baltimore.

The public transit? Amazing. God, I wish we had that in Baltimore. The food? Honestly, a little underwhelming, even with local recommendations. The best thing I ate was Puerto Rican food, something Baltimore is still missing.

My favorite experience was the architectural boat tour during golden hour, watching the city glow as the sun set. It was absolutely breathtaking… except for the Trump hotel towering in the skyline. Unfortunately, I also caught COVID for the first time after nearly five years of avoiding it, which soured the trip since I spent half of it stuck in my hotel room.

Overall, Chicago is a great city and definitely worth visiting once, but I don’t think I’ll return.
