New Orleans: Day 3
We began our day with a delicious breakfast at the 4th Wall Cafe with a charming vintage shabby chic ambiance. The cafe's decor was so inspiring that it motivated us to up our interior design game back home. We ordered an oat flat white and a Boudin Boy pastry filled with sausage and egg. We found having a coffee and a pastry in the morning instead of a complete breakfast quite appealing and plan to continue this routine when we get home.
After breakfast, we strolled down to the French Quarter to attend a cooking class, but unfortunately, we were the last ones called, and the class was overbooked. We took a refund and were gifted with free pralines. We then decided to visit H&M to purchase more winter clothing as it was even colder than the day before, with temperatures dropping to 37 degrees.
Before lunch, we visited St. Louis Catholic Church, a historic landmark that was both beautiful and awe-inspiring. We then went to a local deli for a Muffuletta, a sandwich we discovered through Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. We sat beside the Mississippi River, savoring every bite of our deliciously filling sandwich.
Afterward, we returned to our hotel to rest, and I took a quick nap. Later, we took more photos during golden hour before the evening parade. We walked through the vibrant French Quarter, capturing every moment in the camera lens. We finally arrived at Dat Dog, a hot dog joint where we savored the flavors of a gator and a crawfish dog, which turned out to be one of the most satisfying meals of our trip.
As night fell, we purchased some hot drinks and found a perfect spot to watch the Chewbaccus parade, a sci-fi-themed parade. Initially, the parade seemed dull, but as the night progressed, it quickly became lively and rowdy, with people dancing and enjoying themselves. The parade marchers gave out strange little knick-knacks, including a mini umbrella with little brown babies, which was quite amusing. Our favorite parade group was the Sharknato group, which created a captivating atmosphere. Despite the cold weather, the parade was a worthwhile experience.
As the parade continued, we decided to leave a little early and walked to the trolley to head back to our hotel. We were relieved to escape the cold and ordered some hot gumbo through Doordash to enjoy in bed while watching SNL. With tomorrow being our last day in New Orleans, we look forward to making the most of it.
